There’s either very little or a hell of a lot of explanation needed for this, so let’s set our sights somewhere in between. VGCats is a generally pretty awful gaming webcomic by one Scott Ramsoomair - the art is reasonably well done, but the writing is far below par, with little regard for timing and structure.
The comics that follow are my interpretations of Ramsoomair’s work, produced for NeoGAF threads that focus, primarily, on Photoshopping the comic into something more readable. Technically, mine aren’t done in Photoshop - I use Fireworks - but that’s just splitting hairs.
Original: VGCats #241. The Outsider, or The Stranger as some people know it, is one of my all time favourite novels, just for the record.
Original: VGCats #242. As much as I liked using the 2001 imagery, there’s a Jim Steranko homage in there that I think is probably the thing I’ve enjoyed doing most. It’s from this page from Captain America #111 for those interested.
Original: VGCats #243. I can’t really claim to be a huge Yeats fan, but this did seem like the most appropriate poem I could source.
Original: VGCats #244. This took longer than any of the others by a long way, for pretty obvious reasons. Each balloon is individually resized, each piece of text is copied individually, and then I’ve changed the tense of it along the way as well. Headache inducing. And now I think it’s going to break my site, haha.
Original: VGCats #245. I think this might be the longest one I’ve done so far - it’s almost 9000 pixels, which is about 12 times the length of the original, I think.
